Warrant Execution Reveals Psilocybin Mushroom Lab, Marijuana Processing Center and an Arsenal of Firearms

Investigation into an illegal marijuana organization by the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team identified an individual at an address on Highway 101 in Bandon, as a suspect in the investigation that began last November.  

On December 9th,  South Coast Inter agency Narcotics Team Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for 50 year old Matthew Houglum’s Bandon residence.  

On December 11th, 2024, a multi-jurisdictional operation including the Oregon State Police, the Bandon Police, the Coquille Police, the North Bend Police, the Coquille Tribal Police, Coos County Parole and Probation, and a U.S Coast Guard drone unit executed the search warrant and discovered that the suspect and other co-conspirators were found to have an illegal psilocybin mushroom lab, marijuana processing center, and an arsenal of firearms.  

Under the Controlled Substance act, psilocybin is a schedule 1 substance, which also includes heroin, meth and LSD.  

Charges regarding this case are pending, as it is an ongoing investigation.
