Three quakes struck off the northern California coast starting very early Wednesday, December 4th.
The first of the quakes, measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale and at a depth of just over 6 miles, struck 90 miles southwest of Eureka at approximately 3:36am.
The second of the three quakes struck just a few miles from the first approximately 83 miles southwest of Eureka measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale just after 5:00am.
The final, much smaller quake, struck just minutes after the second approximately 40 miles southwest of Eureka, measuring 2.5 on the Richter Scale at a depth of over 20 miles at 5:12am, Wednesday morning.
