Early Wednesday evening, November 20th, multiple agencies including the California Highway Patrol, Crescent City Fire and Cal-Trams were dispatched to reports of a vehicle verses a pedestrian incident on U.S. Hwy 101 south of Humboldt Rd. in Del Norte County.
According to the California Highway Patrol press release, a 2023 Ford Transit Van, traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy 101 operated by a man identified as Robert Rodriguez, collided with a male subject walking or riding his bicycle on the northbound shoulder of the highway at approximately 6:00pm.
As a result of the collision, the male walking or riding his bicycle who’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, sustained fatal injuries after being struck.
The on scene investigation conducted by the California Highway Patrol revealed that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
