Head coach Mike Hamilton and the Azalea Bruin football team finished their season, taking on Gold Beach Wednesday afternoon.
The Bruins took their opening possession the length of the field with a combination on run and pass plays, culminating in a 20 yard sweep touchdown run by running back Eilias Haro, #1.
Gold Beach came out in their opening possession with some positive rushes before turning the ball over after a fumble, giving the Bruins excellent field possession to start their second drive.
Leading 7-0 and starting their second drive deep in Gold Beach territory, the Bruins would quickly make the most of the opportunity with a 35 yard run into the endzone, extending the score to 14-0 late in the first period.
In the second period, both teams tightened their defense, but both teams would find the endzone in the period, with the Bruins scoring early in the second on a 20 yard pitch to #32, Brycen Urback, followed by Gold Beach scoring after a long drive and quarterback sweep into the endzone making the score 20-8 at the half time break.
Starting the third period with a big lead the Bruins would hand the ball to #12 Tyler Camp to finish off a sustained Bruin drive with a 25 yard run into the endzone.
Now trailing the Bruins 26-8 late in the third period, Gold Beach would answer with a 68 yard pass and catch touchdown to close the score to 26-16.
The Bruins would score once more on a 70 yard sweep by #1, Eilias Haro making the score 34-16 before Gold Beach found the endzone late in the fourth making the final score a 34-24 Bruin win.
