Bruin girls varsity softball hosted their final league game of the 2024 season hosting the Coquille Lady Red Devils Monday afternoon.
Head coach Tony Baron sent junior Dani Dotson to the circle for the Bruin girls and the Lady Red Devils worked a run across the plate to take an early lead.
But the Bruin girls brought their bats Monday afternoon, jumping all over Coquille pitching early, stringing together hits and moving runners around the bags and across the plate, scoring eleven runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
In the second inning, with the Bruin girls leading 11-1, Coquille again could not get runners on the bases, but the Bruin girls would also struggle at the plate in their half of the second as both teams failed to score in the second.
Dotson continued to dominate Lady Red Devil batters, holding them scoreless in the top of the third before the Bruin girls bats would put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the third to take the 16-1 win in game one.
In the second game of the afternoon, freshman right hander, Emmy Armstrong would start for the Bruin girls, setting the tone early holding the Lady Red Devils scoreless in the first.
The Bruin girls would again take control of the game early, pushing six runs across the plate to take an early 6-0 lead, adding two more runs in the second and maintain an 8-0 lead before Coquille would score three runs in the fifth.
Coquille would add four runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but the single run by the Bruin girls in the fifth would be enough for the Bruin girls to secure the game win, 7-9.
The Bruin girls will play their last home game of the regular season Tuesday afternoon, hosting the Bandon Lady Tigers with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00pm.
