After an exciting school year, high school sports programs are getting closer to the end of their 2023/24 seasons, and with that, the latest installment of the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been selected. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection, chosen by Bruin Track’s head coach, Jason Fulton, is sophomore, Patrick Hatch. Hatch, a two sport varsity athlete, who participated on head coach Luke Beaman’s varsity basketball program earlier in the year, is mainly a thrower, moving up into school’s top twenty in history for shot put, disc, and javelin, and was chosen by head coach Jason Fulton for his very hard worker in the classroom as well as the track.
Hatch, participating in his second season for coach Fulton, “is one of our team captains” coach Fulton said, and although is mainly a thrower for the Bruins, has also worked on 110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, Long Jump, as well as the 400m, and the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams.
While excelling on both the basketball court and on the track, Patrick is also on the Honor Roll, carrying a full load of college prep courses including Spanish I, Orchestra, Honors Global Studies, Algebra II, College Biology, Engine Repair, and Language Arts II, with a 3.91 cumulative GPA.
In another great example of excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program, Hatch also participates on the Knowledge Bowl team for the Bruins, is co-concertmaster of the high school orchestra, plays violin with the Wild Rivers Symphony, as well as being active with his church youth group and sings with his church choir.
“Patrick is very hard worker on the track as well as in the classroom, is a great role model for all us, and seems to be really be enjoying track now.” – Head Coach, Jason Fulton
Congratulations Patrick, we are confident that you will continue to be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
