Multiple agencies including the Oregon State Police, Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies, Illinois Valley Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 199 near O’Brien, in Josephine County early Wednesday afternoon, January 31st, just before 12:30pm.
The vehicle was traveling southbound on Hwy. 199 when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons before crashing into a group of trees, catching fire, and killing the driver.
Hwy. 199 was closed for several hours and the operator of the Chevrolet Avalanche, 59 year old John Anton Renner IV, of Brookings, Oregon, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
