Azalea Bruin girls basketball has started regular season play and hosted Marshfield Thursday evening.
The AZ Bruin girls broke out early on Marshfield putting up 24 points in the first half while defensively smothering the Marshfield offense holding them to just seven points in the first half.
The AZ Bruin girls came out of the locker room to start the second half and picked up right where they left off with the shut down defense allowing only 5 Marshfield points in the third quarter, while putting up 16 points running off of Marshfield mistakes and missed shots.
The fourth period was no better for Marshfield, who struggled on the boards and could not find an uncontested shot against the Bruin girls defense adding only 5 more points in the final period.
But the Bruin girls offense continued to run in the fourth, adding another 8 points in final period to take the decisive win.
The Bruin girls will travel to Coos Bay Saturday to participate in the Marshfield Basketball Tournament.
