On Saturday, September 16th, head coach Jason Fulton and the Bruin cross-country team competed in a stand-alone 5K road race in conjunction with the 32nd annual Prefontaine Memorial Run at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.
The race kicked off in downtown Coos Bay Saturday morning at 9:45am with 217 boys and 128 girls from 25 school programs from across the region, starting the 5,000m course with the finish line at the stadium at Marshfield High School.
Bruin senior Peter Goode led the way for the Bruins finishing the course 36th in a personal best time of 18:13.26. Junior, Richard Goode finished in a personal best 20:14.7 followed close behind by senior Colby Anderson-Nelson who also finished in a personal best 20:15.2.
In the girls division, it was junior Eden VanMuren who led the Bruin girls to the finish in a personal best time of 29:02.8 with Keana Williams finishing the course in a personal best 36:23.1.
“I’m very proud of these kids” coach Fulton told the Compass, “They all have been working very hard in practices and this event showed how their hard work paid off with personal best performances from all nine of the Bruin runners who participated”.
