Eureka Police Department Officers were dispatched to A Street in downtown Eureka regarding reports that a male had been lit on fire by another unknown male individual Wednesday afternoon, July 12th, at 3:30pm.
Upon arrival of first responders, a 43 year old male victim with major burns to his upper body was located by officers. After being transported to the hospital with significant injuries and receiving treatment, the victim is reported to be in stable condition.
A search of the area for the suspect immediately began by Officers and Detectives, and based on the investigation and video surveillance, it appears the suspect used a liquid accelerant to light the victim on fire, before quickly fleeing from the scene.
Based on the investigation at this time, Detectives believe this was a targeted attack.
