U.S. Coast Guard Rescues Two from Proposal Rock

On Saturday afternoon, July 8th, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station North Bend received a call reporting a person stuck on the north side of Proposal Rock with a incoming tide, and an MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter was immediately dispatched to the location north of Lincoln City just after 4:00pm.

A Motor Life Boat crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay, as well as crews from the Nestucca Rural Fire Protection District, met with the U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter at the scene and as first responders arrived and were able to make visual contact, it was determined that there were two individuals stuck at the location.

One individual was able to to return to shore by himself with the assistance of the ground crews, however, the second individual needed to be air-lifted to shore.

No injuries reported after both individuals were evaluated and then released.
