A 29-year-old man was transported to the hospital Monday morning after residents found his vehicle crashed in their yard in an unincorporated just west of Medford. Dispatch received a 911 call on February 5, 2018, at 8:48 am from a homeowner in the 8100-block of Upper Applegate Road.
The caller reported the driver was trapped in the vehicle at the base of an embankment, below the main roadway. The driver was semi-conscious and breathing. Crews from Applegate Fire responded to the scene for extrication. Mercy Flights transported the driver to Rogue Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Deputies determined the crash occurred sometime overnight. The vehicle, a gray 2011 Chevrolet Cruze four-door, was northbound on Upper Applegate Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The car drove off the roadway and rolled down a wooded embankment, coming to rest more than 150 feet away.
The crash remains under investigation.
