Multiple crashes forced emergency crews to shut down U.S. Hwy 199 early Tuesday morning, December 20th, just outside of Grants Pass at Hayes Hill due to a very icy road surface.
Early Tuesday morning, just after 5:00am, multiple agencies including Rural Metro Fire, the Illinois Valley Fire District, and the Oregon State Police were on the scene of two Semi Truck’s crashed into a ditch due to icy conditions on the road surface.
Numerous accidents were observed due to icy road conditions on Hwy 199 into Grants Pass, also closing Hayes Hill and delaying its opening until road conditions improved.
One person was transferred from the crash scene by ambulance with injuries.
