Update on Search for Missing Port Orford Man

On Saturday, January 13th, Wanda Coker of Port Orford contacted the Curry County Sheriff’s Office to report thirty-four-year-old Tyler Batch also of Port Orford as “missing”.

Coker advised she had loaned her gold 1999 Dodge Stratus to Batch on Tuesday 01-09-18 and had not seen him or her car since. Batch was entered into the Law Enforcement Data System as a missing person. A Curry County Sheriff’s Deputy took the initial call and followed up by checking areas that Batch was known to frequent.

Thirty-four year old Tyler Batch is described as about 6’ tall, 190lbs, brown hair, hazel eyes, full beard, last seen wearing grey hoodie, jeans and possibly a tan army style jacket. Batch is said to be in good health.

At about 10:40 pm on January 13th, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office called to say they had been notified by a citizen that there was a gold Dodge car in the middle of the road on Forest Service Road 3353, there was no one around it and it appeared abandoned.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office sent a Deputy out but was not able to get to the car that night due to a washout of the road on the Coos County side. The car is in a remote part of Curry County about thirty-two miles east of Port Orford, Or.

On Sunday, January 14th, the Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle which was the same vehicle reported by Coker. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office searched the roadways toward Coos County while the Curry County Sheriff’s Office sent Deputies and Search and Rescue to the area to look for Batch. Search and Rescue members used ATV’s to search throughout the rest of the day, all the surrounding roadways and spur roads but did not find any clues for the whereabouts of Batch.

On Tuesday, January 16th, Search and Rescue returned to the area and spread their search out to other roadways including the Lobster Creek Road, Eucher Creek Road, the Agness Pass and several other roads main roads and spur roads in-between. Search and Rescue was not able to locate any sign of Batch.

UPDATE!!! On Wednesday, January 17th, Tyler Batch had been found and is fine.
