Man Rolls Vehicle Over Embankment

Units from Rural Metro Fire, Illinois Valley Fire District & AMR-Josephine County responded to a rollover crash approximately 2 miles up Briggs Valley Rd, off Redwood Hwy near the top of Hayes Hill.

Rescuers located the crash site when the driver was able to relay to 911 when he heard sirens approach. The vehicle was found 50 yards over a steep embankment, but the driver was able to self-extricate and climb to the roadway. The adult male was suffering from moderate injuries and was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass.

A dog in the vehicle, described as a bloodhound, was scared off after the crash. Rescuers searched the area but were unable to locate. Firefighters are asking drivers near the remote Forest Service access road that leads to Onion Mountain, to keep an eye out for the dog.
