Fall high school sports programs are well underway as most teams have played at least one, if not multiple games this 2022/2023 season, and another outstanding Brookings-Harbor High School student athlete has been chosen Barron’s ‘Star Student Athlete’. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This weeks selection is junior, Colby Anderson Nelson, a multiple year member of the Bruins varsity boys cross country team, chosen by head coach, Jason Fulton for his hard work and consistency for the Bruins cross country team this 2022 season.
“First and foremost, Colby a fantastic person who cares about his team” coach Fulton said, “and though he may seem very quiet, he is a fierce competitor.”
Now a two year letterman for coach Fulton, Colby has been running competitively since the 6th grade, and has become coach Fulton’s top runner, covering the 5K course in just 22:14 this season.
Scholastically, Colby is now considering extending his high school running career after high school, and is carrying a 3.25 GPA while adding classes with college credits to his courses.
“Colby is a wonderful student, a very hard worker with a very consistent pace always striving to improve, and has developed into a great leader for our team.” coach Fulton said.
Congratulations Colby, we are confident that you will be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
