Excessive Heat Warnings Issued by the National Weather Service Across the Region as Coast Remains Cool

Although temperatures along the coast have been mild, some inland valleys have been experiencing triple digits for the past few days, and forecasts are offering no immediate relief from the stifling, possibly record breaking high temperatures.

Much of southwestern Oregon and northwestern California have been issued Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings by the National Weather Service well into the middle of the work week.

Temperatures in most interior valleys are expected to see high temperatures from 100 degrees in Cave Junction, to 109 degrees in Medford by mid week, with very recovery rates as early morning lows reach only the low 70’s. The chance of a week disturbance as the monsoonal moisture pushes into the ridge of high pressure stationed over the area, possibly producing a slight chance for isolated thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday.

The coastal areas are not expected to much if any change in the weather pattern going into mid week, with a continued marine layer in the morning hours and high stratus clouds off-shore. High temperatures will continue to be relatively mild, over 40 degrees cooler than just a few miles inland with highs only reaching the mid to upper 60’s.
