The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team joint inter-agency task force arrested a local Medford man Tuesday, June 28th, after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children started an investigation, which led to subpoenas, followed by the search warrant at the residence and it was discovered he possessed child exploitation images of a local 14 year old Oregon girl.
During the search warrant, investigators learned that in addition to possessing and distributing child pornography, the suspect had been in contact with at least one 14-year-old girl in Oregon and obtained self-produced images of the child. Investigators are concerned there may be more victims.
While executing the search warrant, digital devices were seized and will be forensically examined by the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team for further evidence of child exploitation and other possible victims.
This investigation is being federally prosecuted in the District of Oregon, and the suspect, 35 year old Nicholas James Shaw, of Medford, has been federally charged with two felony counts of possession, distribution, and receipt of child pornography.
If anyone has additional information on the suspect, please call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (541) 774-8333.
