At about 08:30am Friday morning, June 17th, Crescent City Police Officers responded to the Big 5 parking lot after a two year old child was found alone in the parking lot.
After arriving at the scene, Crescent City Police Officers were initially unable to locate a parent of the child and the child was placed in protective custody with Child Welfare Service.
An apartment on Highway 101 with an open door was located by Officers patrolling the area, and contact was made with a subject who told Officers that no child was missing from the residence.
Officer’s then searched the area and contacted numerous residences before returning to the initial residence, contacting 19 year old Cody Miller, who while talking with Officers stated he did not realize his child was missing because he was under the influence of marijuana.
After an investigation was completed, Miller was arrested for Child Endangerment, and Furnishing Marijuana to a Minor. Miller and then booked into to the Del Norte County Jail.
