Brookings-Harbor High School, and head coach Jason Fulton sent 8 varsity track members to Eugene last week after qualifying for the State Championships in 15 track and field events.
Senior Miguel Ramos, who qualified in 4 events, took home top honors including ‘Athlete of the Meet’, after finishing 1st in the 400m with a personal best time of 49:52, breaking a 44 year old school record according to coach Fulton. Ramos who also qualified in the 100m, finished 2nd in another personal best time of 11:21, and followed that up with another second place finish in the 200m with a time of 22:57.
Junior Spencyr Gottfried qualified for the Bruin girls in the 100m, finishing 5th with a time of 13:31. She also qualified in the girls pole vault, finishing 7th with a vault of 8′-0″.
Bruins senior, Jake Beaman qualified in the 800m for Brookings, finishing 12th, in a time of 2:12.75. In the second of the three events Beaman qualified in, he finished 8th in the triple-jump, with a distance of 39′-2.75″.
In the hurdle events, Megan Pearson qualified for the girls in the 100m hurdles, finishing 8th, in 17:95. Pearson also qualified in the girls long jump, finishing 10th, with a final jump of 14′-1″.
Kyan Myers qualified for the boys in the 110m hurdles, and finished 8th in a time of 18:51, and also was on the Bruin boys 4x400m relay team.
Senior, Ty Morris, qualified in the boys 800g javelin, finishing 11th, with a throw of 123′-8″and also ran on the boys 4x400m team.
The Boys 4x400m relay team of Kyan Myers, Ty Morris, Jake Beaman and Miguel Ramos qualified for the State Championships, finishing 8th, in a time of 3:42.70.
