Old Selma School Suffers Significant Fire Damage

Just after 8:00pm, Thursday, May 5th, the Illinois Valley Fire District, was dispatched to a major structure fire.

Upon arriving at the old Selma School, first units came upon visible heavy fire and smoke on the south side and middle of the structure, prompting an immediate third alarm requesting mutual aid from surrounding departments including Grants Pass Fire, Rural Metro Fire, and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.

Hwy. 199 remained open, however, because of the incidents location and proximity to Hwy. 199 and emergency vehicles in the area, traffic was considerably slowed, causing major traffic congestion through the area through out the night.
