Maddy Taylor, #22, on her way to 2 more wins Thursday, continuing the Bruin girls win streak.

Looking to build on a 4 game win streak, the Bruin girls varsity softball team hosted the North Valley Lady Knights in a double header Thursday afternoon.

Jo Pryor, #16, stealing 2nd base.

The Bruin girls started the first inning with some ball after holding the Lady Knights scoreless in the top of the first, getting on base with walks and two hits to take a 4-0 lead after the first inning.

Cam Crosby, #2, went 2 for 2 with a home-run, and 4 RBI.

Maddy Taylor, #22, started in the circle for head coach Tony Barron, and continued to sit down North Valley batters, holding the the Lady Knights scoreless again in the 2nd. At the plate for the Bruin girls in the bottom of the 2nd, junior Cam Crosby, #2, squared up a 2 ball, 1 strike pitch, with one on, and sent it over the left centerfield wall for a 2 run home-run, leading the Bruin girls to a 7-0 lead after 2.

Senior, Kelcie Ziegler, #27 making the play at 3rd.

The Lady Knights could not put together any consistent offense against the Bruin girls defense as well as Maddy Taylor’s pitching, failing to put any runs on the board in the top of the 3rd. Offensively in the bottom of the 3rd, the Bruin girls added 6 more runs, including home runs from freshman, #14, kami Koepnick, and Maddy Talyor, extending the lead to 13-0 after 3 innings.

Senior Jordan Crosby, #6, catching the line drive for the out at 2nd.

In the top of the fourth, the Lady Knights worked a runner in scoring position, and got a runner across the plate to avoid the shut-out, however, still trailing by 12 runs.

Freshman Kami Koepnick, #14, went 1 for 2 with a home-run.

Going into the top of the 5th, after going down in order in the bottom of the 4th, the Bruin girls defense allowed 3 more runs to score, closing the gap to 9 points in the 5th. But two Bruin girls walks would put runners in position to score off of wild pitch, to make the score 14-4 Brookings-Harbor and end the first game.

Charlie Nolte, #7, sliding in safe at 3rd.

The Bruin girls would go on to take the first game 14-4, and go on to take the second half of the Thursday’s double-header by an even larger 17-4 margin, ending pre-season play on a 6 game win streak and a 7-2 overall record.

Shortstop, Cam Crosby, #2, throwing the runner out at first.

Regular season play begins Tuesday, April 19th, when the Bruin girls host the 2-3 Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs at 5:00pm.
