At approximately 1:00pm, Thursday, March 17th, the Crescent City Police Department responded to a report of a male subject brandishing a knife towards motorists in the area known as Cooper Hill.
32 year old Frank Gist was observed to be still holding a knife and brandishing it towards people as first responding units initially arrived. Gist was held at gunpoint by a Crescent City Police Officer until he dropped the knife on the ground several feet away.
The Officer transitioned to his department issued TASER and worked with assistance from other responding Officers from the Crescent City Police Department, Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, and the California Highway Patrol to take Gist into custody without incident.
Gist was arrested for brandishing a weapon, and threatening/Dissuading a witness before being booked in the Del Norte County Jail.
