Another Bruins girls basketball player has garnered the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ award once again after an outstanding season that took the Bruin girls varsity basketball team deep into post-season play. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
Bruins girls varsity basketball head coach Chris Schofield has recognized another excellent example of a student excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program showing leadership, competitiveness, and work ethic as well as staying focused scholastically, balancing a 4.0 GPA as well.
Senior Charlie Nolte was chosen by coach Schofield because “She is a ball hawk who frustrates the opponent’s point guard and keeps them from getting into their regular offense, and she set the tone for us defensively when she was in the game for us this past season.”
Charlie averaged 2 points per game while pulling down 2 rebounds a game and 2 steals per game, but it is not her stats that got her the recognition, “it was her ability to disrupt the opposing teams entire offense with her relentless defensive pressure that is the real value she brings to our team.” coach Schofield said.
Participating in two varsity sports, playing volleyball for the Bruin girls in the fall, senior Charlie Nolte continues to carry a 4.0 GPA, and is ranked in the top 10 of her class.
Congratulations Charlie Nolte, we are confident that you will continue to excel in the future.
Special thanks to corporate sponsors Barron’s Home Furnishings and In Motion Graphics who make this recognition possible.
