The Brookings Police Department issued a message through social media Friday “alerting” parents and guardians of an uptick in drug use and abuse amongst teens and even younger age groups locally.
“There have been several instances of injury and hospitalization of several school aged children locally” the message reads.
“There is a high risk of long term injury or death” the message continues, “from bad batches, fake pills or overdose, that have been identified in our community.”
Even though there have been no releases of information from local authorities reporting “several instances of injury and hospitalization of several school aged children locally” prior to Fridays social media message, the Brookings Police Department encourages parents and guardians to “talk to their children about the risks of drug use, and the existence of deadly batches and fakes.”
The Brookings Police Department, Curry County Juvenile Department, Oregon Health Authority and Brookings-Harbor School District have resources available to help you prevent senseless deaths and injury to young people in the community.
