A strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck 45 miles southwest of Eureka, California at approximately 12:10pm Monday afternoon.
The initial quake registering 6.2 was followed by three smaller tremors registering 2.5 at 12:25pm, a 3.0 at 12.29pm and another 3.6 at 12:47pm.
Earlier in the day, a 4.4 magnitude quake struck approximately 175 miles northwest of Coos Bay at 11:37pm.
The quake generated no immediate tsunami warnings, or tsunami waves but was felt as far away as Brookings, Oregon.
