The Bruin varsity boys soccer team continued it’s winning ways Thursday afternoon hosting the Red Devils who traveled from Coquille.
Just ten minutes into the contest, junior Josh Serna gathered in a cross from the right, taking the volley and placing it in the right corner of the net to start the scoring.
The undefeated Bruins attacked quickly, aggressively challenging midfield play to control possession, while feeding the offense a steady diet of goal scoring opportunities.
The Bruin defense continuously turned Red Devil opportunities away, breaking up fast break opportunities in the midfield, and collecting loose balls to maintain ball possession.
The Bruins missed many opportunities in front of the Red Devil goal, missing just wide and hitting the post until late in the first half of play, when senior Fabian Villa put the ball behind the keeper to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead at the 31:00 minute mark.
As the clock ran down on the first half of play, the Bruins would score one more time, giving themselves a 3-0 lead at the half-time break.
The second half of play was completely dominated by the Bruins, who would go on to see Jake Beaman #17 score on penalty kick, sophomore Austin Dietrich #24 score inside the box, and junior Uriel Cortes #15 score as the Bruins went on to take the decisive win.
The Bruins will travel to Medford Saturday, October 16th to take on the 4-0 St. Mary’s Crusaders at noon at U.S. Cellular Fields.
