Bruin Cross-Country Runs to Another Win

The Brookings-Harbor Bruin Cross-Country team consists of a small family of runners, led by head coach Jason Fulton. This 2021 season has been a very good season so far for the group.

Senior Everest Abblit finished first Friday afternoon and has placed 8th at both the Clam Beach event in Trinadad, CA, and the Fugate Farm Run in Bandon.

At the home meet against Del Norte Friday afternoon, October 8th, only 3 runners were available to compete for coach Fulton, due to injuries, and other sport  program commitments. 

Freshman Noah Speir #75, who also participates on the BHHS soccer program, finished 5th, and has shown vast improvements throughout the season and ran Friday’s home meet on a sprained ankle.

On a pleasant Friday afternoon at Azalea Park, with runners making  3 loops around a designated track around and through out the park, for a distance of 3.29 miles. Senior Everest Abblit finished 1st, completing the course in a time of 21 minutes and 11 seconds with freshman Noah Speir finishing 5th in a time of 26 minutes and 4 seconds, and Kyan Myers finished 7th in a time of 34 minutes and 38 seconds. all runners from both DN and BHHS ran very strong races.

Kyan Myers finished 7th Friday, and has been using the season to prepare to enter the U.S. Navy.

Coach Fulton and his BHHS cross-country track team have 3 meets left in the season, Wednesday at Arcata, Tuesday, October 12th, at Del Norte, and the district finals at Valley of the Rogue State Park, October 28th.
