The Oregon State Police with the assistance of the Curry County Major Crimes Team is investigating an Officer Involved Shooting on 80 Acres Road and Anthony Drive in Curry County.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that on October 29th at approximately 11:00 pm, A Gold Beach Police Department Officer was in pursuit of a reported stolen vehicle near 80 Acres Road and Anthony Drive in Curry County. During the incident, the Gold Beach Officer fired his weapon however the pursuit resumed and was joined by deputies from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office. It is unknown whether the suspect was injured or not. The suspect was not located and a request was made for a Major Crime Team Callout. The Curry County Major Crimes Team is comprised of detectives from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, The Brookings Police Department, the Gold Beach Police Department and the Oregon State Police who are leading the investigation.
The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Brian Anthony Widby and the involved vehicle was a Black 2002 Mitsubishi with California license plates DP429RE.
