Perfect Weather makes for a Day of Personal Records for BHHS Track Team

Bright sun, light wind and with open track before them, Brookings-Harbor High School held its home track meet Wednesday afternoon and the athletes performed as great as the weather.

Sophomore Spensyr Gotfried finished 1st for the Lady Bruins with a time of 14:06 and also finished 1st in the 200m with a personal record 29:51.
Junior Everest Ablitt took 4th in the 1500m in a personal record 4:45, followed by a school record finish in the 3000m, finishing 4th in 10:31.
Junior Jake Beaman hands off to Miguel Ramos in the boys 4×100 relay and with the help of Cody Lee and Ryan Meyer would take first in 46:16. Both Ramos and Beaman would also finish 1st and 2nd in the 400 with personal records.
The Lady Bruin 4×100 team of Skylar Gallagher, Spencer Gotfried, Maleah Harlan, and Megan Pearson took first finishing in a time of 56:18.
Junior Kyan Meyer finished 3rd in the 110m hurdle and 4th in the 300m hurdle in 52:81.
Lady Bruin Megan Pearson took 4th with a time of 19:28 in the 100m hurdle behind Gold Beach’s Gabby Perez who finished 1st with a personal best time of 17:41.
Senior Derek Tuttle finished 2nd in the Javelin with a personal best throw of 182′-1″ and also finished 2nd in the shot put throwing another personal record 41′-6″.
Junior Skylar Gallagher finished 1st in the lady long jump with a personal best 14′-7.5″. Megan Pearson also finished 3rd jumping 13′-2″.
In the Long Jump for the boys, Uriel Cortez took the second spot with a personal record jump of 17′-7″, and Miguel Ramos finished 3rd jumping 17′-3″.
In the Discus, sophomore Seamus Tayman finished 5th, throwing a personal record 86′-2″.
For the Lady Bruins, Sara Fulton finished 3rd throwing 68′-11″.
In the High Jump, junior Jake Beaman took 2nd with a jump of 5′-4″.

The Compass talked with head coach Jason Fulton, ” It was a great day for our one and only home meet.  We had our Senior Night for Derek Tuttle and Troy Tatro.  Wonderful for them.” he said. “We had many personal records, and at this time, 10 athletes have been invited to 24 events at the 71st Grants Pass Meet this weekend.” he went on to say. “The coaches are very proud of all the athletes and their hard work these past few weeks.  It showed today!” 

Coach Fulton went on to say “thank you to all the people who came to help us run our meet.  It could not be done without them at all. Also a huge thank you needs to go out to Athletic Director Jean Shearer and all of her hard work behind the scenes to keep all of our high school sports seasons running as smoothly as possible.”
