Officers from the California Highway Patrol Yreka station, received information from Ashland Police Department of a kidnapping which had recently occurred Friday morning, April 9th.
The suspect, later identified as 37 year old Desmond Thomas Cloyd from Anderson, CA, was believed to be traveling southbound on Interstate 5 in a silver 2005 Chrysler 300 to Yreka, California, with the 17 month old victim in the vehicle, not in a child safety seat.
Desmond Cloyd was located in the Hilt Area behind a Caltrans building, was taken into custody without incident, and booked into Siskiyou County Jail for multiple felony charges including kidnapping, child abduction, as well as disobeying a court order.
The victim was located unharmed inside the suspect’s vehicle. The victim’s mother responded to the scene and was reunited with the child.
