Lady Bruins Make Quick Work of Red Devils

Senior Captain midfielder #18 Abby Farmer sets up her shot for one her two goals on the day.

The Lady Bruins arrived at the Coquille / Myrtle Point Red Devils home field Tuesday afternoon ready to play.

It is questionable if the whistle to start the game had actually blown before #10 speedster forward Avana Pettus would score. Just over 2 minutes had clicked off the clock before Pettus found a cross and put a header into the back of the net.

It wouldn’t be 5 minutes later before Avana Pettus would take advantage of a misplayed ball by the Red Devil keeper and put another ball over the goal line.

Center midfielder Abby Farmer #10 would find the back of the net about midway through the first half, and Pettus would record her third goal in the half by again taking advantage of a Red Devil Keeper mishandle and tapping in another goal with seconds left in the first half.

There would be no letting up by the Lady Bruins as they began the second half with a 4 goal lead thanks to #10 Avana Pettus’ first-half 3 goal hat-trick.

Freshman midfielder #14 Lexi Schofield would miss scoring by inches when she hit the post early in the second half only to have her shot followed up and put behind the Red Devil keeper by Pettus for her fourth goal of the day.

Farmer would get an assist on a well-placed throw in that sophomore midfielder Anna Serna #17 would drill past the keeper from distance.

The Red Devils would get on the board at about the midway point in the second half.

The Lady Bruins would finish the day with 8 goals as Pettus would pick up her 5th of the game and midfielder #18 Abbey Farmer would record her second of the game from way outside going on to take the match 8-1.
