Governor Kate Brown’s ‘State of Emergency’ extended again as the state of Oregon passes 100,308 positive tests after adding 9,088 new positive results in the past week. 442 additional individuals were hospitalized in the past week with 5,837 COCID-19 hospitalizations since the pandemic began.
Oregon will now have been under ‘state of emergency’ conditions for an entire year after Governor Kate Brown extended her declaration of a state of emergency regarding COVID-19 Thursday, December 17th, for an additional 60 days, until March 3rd, 2021.
The previous executive order was set to expire on January 2, 2021. The declaration is the legal underpinning for the Governor’s COVID-19 executive orders and the Oregon Health Authority’s health and safety guidance.
The state of emergency declaration is the legal underpinning for the executive orders the Governor has issued that have placed virtually all Oregon coastal counties from California to Washington in the ‘High Risk’ category, essentially shuttering 29 Oregon counties for the remainder of the year. After making updates to county risk levels, ALL 36 Oregon counties are currently under the state’s new public health framework at some level.
The six northern counties of Multnomah, Clackamus, Marion, Umatilla, Washington and Linn continue to carry 65% of the states cases, and contribute more than 53% of ALL new cases in the past week with 4,762 of the states 9,088 new cases.
Curry County’s latest report Friday, December 18th, now reports testing 4,906 individuals with 4,733 negative tests, 173 total positive COVID-19 tests and has recorded 2 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 11,357 individuals with 10,714 negative results, 139 active cases and 643 total confirmed cases reported by Public Health, with 3 current hospitalizations and 2 deaths.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 1,387 total cases, adding 156 new CoVID-19 cases in the past week after testing 51,708 individuals with now 400 active cases, 972 recoveries, 62 hospitalizations, and 15 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, December 18th.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 20,820 individuals with 20,145 negative tests, adding 51 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week with now 675 total positive cases and 4 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Josephine County reports testing 28,979 individuals with 28,076 negative results, adding 147 new cases in the past week, 903 total positive cases of COVID-19 and 16 deaths.
Jackson County continues to see significant increases after reporting another 684 new cases of COVID-19 this past week after testing 115,609 individuals with 1109,116 negative test results, 6,493 total cases of COVID-19 and 7 new deaths in the past week now totaling 55 deaths as of Friday, December 18th.
