After suffering a new single day record of COVID-19 cases last week with 457 on Friday September 25th, the state of Oregon saw 623 fewer official COVID-19 cases in last seven days than in the previous week adding just 1,349 new cases. Oregon now stands at 34,163 total cases statewide with 563 total deaths.
On Friday, October 2nd, Governor Kate Brown announced that two counties of Benton and Clatsop have been added to the ‘County Watch List’. This brings the total number of counties on the Watch List to three, Malhuer County, and now the counties of Benton and Clatsop.
More than two-thirds of all cases in the state are still comprised by the same 6 northern Oregon counties of Clackamus, Marion, Multonomah, Umatilla, Washington an now Clatsop.
These six counties comprise 22,757 of the states 34,163 total cases as well as 72% of the states death toll with 401 of the states deaths, up 21 since last Friday, September 24th.
Curry County’s latest report Friday, September 25th, now reports testing 1,895 individuals with 1,862 negative tests, and now has 9 active confirmed cases of COVID-19 while the county has 24 recovered cases and 0 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, October 2nd.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 8,738 with 8,592 negative results, 146 total confirmed cases, 5 active cases reported to Public Health, with 0 current hospitalizations and 1 death.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 518 total cases, adding 17 new CoVID-19 cases in the past week after testing 29,707 individuals with now 27 active cases, 483 recoveries, 32 hospitalizations and 1 new death in the past week totaling now 8 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, October 2nd.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 7,258 individuals with 7,138 negative tests, adding 15 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week with now 167 total positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 25 recoveries and 0 deaths.
Josephine County reports testing 12,492 individuals with 12,309 negative results, adding 15 new cases in the past week, 212 total positive cases of COVID-19 of which 118 are recovered cases, and 2 deaths.
Jackson County continues to see significant increases after reporting another 78 cases of COVID-19 this past week after testing 35,939 individuals with 34,809 negative test results, 1,229 total cases of COVID-19, 312 recovered cases and 1 new death in the past week totaling 6 deaths as of Friday October 2nd.
