In late July Governor Brown mandated facemasks for all Oregonians ages five and up in indoor and outdoor public spaces when six feet of distance cannot be maintained and also required facemasks in cases of physical exertion indoors, while businesses and restaurants also received new conditions limiting business opportunities. New ‘back to school metrics’ have also put in place in the last week.
But with almost 70 consecutive days of civil unrest in northern Oregon counties, a new list of 10 primarily northern Oregon counties surrounding the Portland area have been put on the ‘County Watchlist’ for a minimum of three weeks and until their sporadic case rates drop below predetermined metrics.
Oregon added 2,460 cases of COVID-19 in the last 7 days with Oregon adding 416 new cases on Thursday, July 30th alone.
Curry County reported that it now has 5 active cases of COVID-19 while the county has reported testing 987 individuals, with 973 negative tests, 14 total positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday morning July 31st.
Late Friday evening, July 31st, Curry County Public Health received notification from Curry General Hospital of two verified confirmed cases of COVID-19, the two confirmed positive cases are non-residents traveling from outside the area with other family members. Both individuals who tested positive are from the same household and they are self isolating with their family members and monitoring symptoms.
This case has been referred back to the state and county of residence.
Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 4,571 individuals with 88 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, 0 active cases and 88 inactive cases, 2 hospitalizations and 0 deaths in Del Norte County as of Friday morning July 31st.
Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports testing 15,458 individuals with 233 total cases, 45 active cases, 184 recoveries and 4 deaths and 17 hospitalizations.
Coos County to the north, reported testing 3,943 individuals with 3,878 negative tests, 76 total positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, 65 positive cases with 21 recoveries and 0 deaths.
Josephine County reports testing 6,622 individuals with 6,547 negative results, 98 total positive cases of COVID-19 of which 59 are recovered cases, and 1 death.
Jackson County went into the week testing 18,743 individuals with 18,451 negative test results, totaling 352 total cases of COVID-19 and 152 recovered cases and 1 death as of Friday morning July 31st.
