An evening of pomp and circumstance Saturday June 20th, came to a crescendo with the crowning of the 2020 Azalea Queen for the 81st time.
In a tradition that dates back more than 80 years, the 2020 Azalea Court was selected Saturday night.
Over the months, five young ladies tirelessly practiced proper princess etiquette and poise and dealt with unprecedented obstacles in efforts to have the opportunity to represent the Brookings-Harbor community as the 81st Azalea Queen.
The first selection during the ceremony is Miss Congeniality, which is voted on by the princess’s themselves, and was won by Kaylee Cover. Ms. Cover also won the talent portion of the pageant with an exhibition of speed painting.
Alonna Nalls won the essay portion of the pageant and also finished as the 1st runner-up.
This year’s 81st Azalea Festival Queen, as chosen by various dignitaries associated with the Azalea Pageant, is Kaylee Cover.
This year, as in years past, the Azalea Queen and her court will carry the official duties of representing the Brookings-Harbor area through out the year and specifically at the Azalea festival ceremonies this coming July 17th thru 19th.
