Road Rage Leads to Assault

On May 28th, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies took a report regarding a road rage incident.

An 18 year old male and female, reported they were in the male’s vehicle driving toward Applegate Lake at about 3:00pm. They noticed that that they had upset someone in a vehicle following them.

22 year old, Mason Thomas Maloney

A white male in the passenger seat of the suspect car later identified as 22 year old, 6’5″, 240 pound Mason Thomas Maloney, began waving his arms out the window at them. The car followed and tailgated the two 18 year olds for approximately 20 minutes before the two 18 year olds pulled over.

After stepping out of the vehicle, He quickly advanced toward the victim driver.

He then physically attacked the victim driver by punching him multiple times. The female victim tried to help and she also was stuck in the face by the suspect. The suspect male’s girlfriend later identified as 19 year old Ashley Renee Lewis, tried to intercede to stop the suspect.

The 18 year old driver was able to strike the suspect with a wrench and the suspect then left the scene in the vehicle driven by the female driver.

Both victim’s required medical treatment at a local hospital.

Maloney has declined multiple opportunities to meet with deputies to be interviewed and both are suspects are now evading further contact and deputies are requesting any information about the location of the suspects or vehicle.
