The Lady Bruins would shake off a tough preseason and dominate a girls Douglas team from whistle to whistle. The Lady Bruins pounced early with immediate attacks on the Douglas goal, and would continue to dictate through out the entire game.
Bruin Midfielder Stephanie Birks, would be the first to strike by putting the ball in the back of the net just after the five minute mark of the first half. Stephanie Birks, who would score multiple times, and the Lady Bruins would not look back from that point on.
About half way through the first half the rain would begin and the Lady Bruins would take full advantage and continue to control tempo, the middle of the field and the ball.
The team from Douglas couldn’t handle the aggressive Bruin team on the slick field, however, they would score on a mishap in front of the Bruin goal. A pass back to the keeper would give the Douglas team the opportunity and despite a fearless effort by Micky Fulton to block the first shot, she could not stop the second shot off the rebound putting Douglas on the scoreboard in the second half.
The Lady Bruins will take this commanding 10-1 victory into Thursdays home game against Coquille / Myrtle Point at 5:00PM.
