Just before 6:00am Friday afternoon, May 8th, Crescent City Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the area of Y-Liquors for a report of a fire in the parking lot area. The Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fire.
It was determined by Crescent City Police Department that the fire was set intentionally. Through video footage the Crescent City Police Department was able to identify the suspect as 44 year old Steven Thompson.
At approximately 9:30am Thompson was located in the area of Home Depot, interviewed and arrested for Arson. Thompson is being held in custody at the Del Norte County Jail.
The case is still under investigation and will be forwarded to the Del Norte County District Attorney for review.
