We are entering a period of very active winter weather. Very heavy snow will fall in the Cascades this weekend, and travel will be difficult to impossible. West side valley snow remains uncertain, but it is certainly possible as snow levels fall to the valley floors early next week.
Two very potent winter storms will bring heavy snow to the mountains, especially the Cascades, this weekend with possibly 4 FEET or more up around Crater Lake! Travel is going to be difficult to impossible this weekend over the higher elevations.

A large northwest swell will bring a threat for large breaking waves to area beaches on Saturday, and a High Surf Advisory is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. Breakers of 22 to 27 ft will be possible on west and northwest facing beaches.
Large breaking waves will generate hazardous conditions on area beaches. This threat will be maximized on steeply sloped beaches. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. Beachgoers should stay farther back from the surf and off of jetties or rocks.
