Homeowner Holds Two home Burglars at Gunpoint

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a burglary in progress in Coos Bay. The reporting party stated her and her husband had located two individuals in their garage on their residence. The reporting party also reported that her husband was holding the two at gunpoint.

When Deputies arrived on scene, the two men, identtified as 36 year old Philip Raymond Nerpel and 27 year old Jordan James Duval, were taken into custody. The callers husband said that after he had located the two in the garage, he gave the two verbal commands and both men exited and sat down outside the garage.

A pistol was located inside the garage, which Jordan later admitted to its belonging to him. Phillip also admitted to attempting to enter the residence on the property, but he was unable to enter the home due to the locked dead-bolt. Philip admitted he had kicked the door of the garage and also stated he had stolen a knife from inside the garage. He also stated he was looking around in the garage fro items to take but that he was unable to see very well due to not having a flashlight.

Both Jordan and Philip were transported to the Coos County Jail, where they were lodged on the charges of Attempted Burglary 1, Burglary 2, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief and Conspiracy.

Jordan was also referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office for the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
