Woman Stabs Herself Multiple Times

On Sunday evening, Dec. 01, just after 6:30pm, a Sheriff Deputy responded to a report of a baby being dropped at the Harbor Chevron on Highway 101 South, in Harbor, Oregon. The Deputy contacted 25 year old Nicholas Wymer, father of the one year old child, in the Harbor Chevron according to a press release from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday afternoon.

An ambulance had already been dispatched by the Brookings 9-1-1 Center. While talking to Nicholas Wymer, the deputy learned that the mother, 22 year old Kathryn Wymer had tackled Nicholas Wymer while he was holding the baby. Kathryn Wymer then ran from the area of Harbor Chevron towards Dutch Bros Coffee. Nicholas Wymer told the Deputy that the one year old child was fine, but that he was injured from the fall. Nicholas Wymer and the child were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, California.

The Deputy then went to the Dutch Bros located on Highway 101 South, Harbor in an attempt to contact Kathryn Wymer. Kathryn Wymer then ran back towards Highway 101. As the Deputy continued to Kathryn Wymer’s new location on the shoulder of Highway 101. Kathryn Wymer then ran back to the Dutch Bros building, with the Deputy continuing to follow her.

At this time the Deputy observed Kathryn to be stabbing herself numerous times and not responding to any of the Deputy’s commands to stop and drop the knife. The deputy requested further law enforcement assistance, additional deputies responded along with Brookings Police and Oregon State Police. An ambulance was also requested to respond.

Kathryn Wymer fell to the ground due to her injuries and the Deputy was able to remove the 3 inch knife from the area and began administering First Aid along with the Brookings Police Officer and an Oregon State Trooper until an ambulance arrived all while Kathryn Wymer was uncooperative and resisted first responders.

Kathryn Wymer was also transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, California.

The investigation is continuing and the information will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review and any prosecution.
