K-9 Officer ‘Yahtzee’ Alerts to Meth during Traffic Stop

Early Friday morning, November 29th, just before 1:30am, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation according to a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release.

During this traffic stop, the Sheriff’s Office K9 Team was deployed to conduct a free air sniff for narcotics. While conducting this operation, Humboldt County Sheriff’s K9 Officer ‘Yahtzee’ alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics inside of the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located approximately 6.5 ounces of methamphetamine.

The two occupants of the vehicle, 40 year old Timothy Richard Long and 45 year old Tammy Joanne Ryan, were arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of transportation of a controlled substance for sales.
