Early Sunday morning, December 1st just after 5:30 am, multiple explosions rocked a North Valley neighborhood near Merlin. Upon the arrival of crews from Rural Metro Fire, Grants Pass Fire, and American Medical Response, a single-story house was found fully involved and several cars in the yard were also burning.
Additional explosions were experienced by firefighters after arrival, and debris was found scattered across the roadway. Source of the explosions have not been confirmed.
As firefighters were conducting an attack to confine the fire, and confirming that all occupants were safely outside, it was identified that the property was under a contractual agreement with another fire company based out of Merlin.
With strong confidence that no occupants required rescue and the fire was not going to spread to adjacent properties, Rural Metro fire commanders conducted a quick transitional plan, allowing Rural Metro and Grants Pass fire units to be released from the scene.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
