The Lady Bruins volleyball team celebrated their seniors Tuesday night against the Sutherlin Lady Bulldogs after playing in the Marshfield Invitational Tournament over the last weekend.
Coach Shew’s Lady Bruins took the floor for the final time in 2019 against a powerful Lady Bulldog team sitting on an 8-2 league record. The Lady Bruins brought their defense against a powerful front line from the Lady Bulldogs, led by Shelby Jirsa #4 with 5 of the teams 20 digs on the night. Gracie Harms #11 and Cartyr Fitzhugh #6 followed Jirsa with 4 digs each of their own.
The service game from the Lady Bruins wasn’t a factor in the match as the Lady Bruins recorded only 2 ace’s in the match, however, when the Lady Bruins were in sustained rally’s they had their moments at the net recording 14 kills. Again it was Shelby Jirsa #4 leading the way with 5 kills on the night. Alonna Nalls, Cartyr Fitzhugh, Jordan Crosby and Sierra Fitzhugh all had 2 kills of their own.
The Lady Bruins finished their 2019 season looking forward to the future of their program losing only 4 seniors this year and returning with a strong group of new senior leadership next year.
