The Lady Bruins and varsity head coach Lorinda Shew were on the road for a rematch of the Tuesday, September 10th match that the Lady Bruins handed the Del Norte Lady Warriors a 3-1 loss for the first time in years.
Again, against a local rival, Coach Shew’s Lady Bruins stepped up and played at a distinctively different level. The sets are on time, the spikes are a little more powerful, and the blocks are a little higher.
The Lady Bruins who dominated the Lady Warriors just two weeks ago picked up where they left off, and though the matches were close, the Lady Bruins controlled the matches on their way to defeating the Lady Warriors in 3 straight sets.
Junior Gracie Harms #11 led the Lady Bruins with 7 kills as Cartyr and Seirra Fitzhugh had 3 kills each of their own. Although net play was aggressive from both sides, the Lady Bruins had 6 blocks from 3 different players.
Sierra Fitzhugh led all Lady Bruins with 11 digs in the game followed by Ashlyn Schofield who had 7 digs on the night.
With the win, the Lady Bruins evened their overall record to 4-4 as they close out their preseason and get ready for the start of their 2019 regular season against Cascade Christian at home Thursday night at 6:00pm.
