Semi Hauling 5,000 gallons of Jet Fuel Crashes

A semi-truck turned over near the intersection of Antioch Rd and Loch Lomond Dr. while transporting 5,000 gallons of Jet A fuel from Beagle helibase in Shady Cove back to headquarters in White City just before 9:00 pm Monday night

The truck was returning from a deployment serving the East Evans Fire. The driver suffered minor injuries and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The trailer of the semi-truck began leaking fuel as a result of the crash. Fire District 3 requested our Region 8 HazMat team respond to the leak. The Medford Fire HazMat team worked on plugging and containing the leak to the roadway and adjacent brush field.

In addition, Jackson County Airport Fire was on scene to protect firefighters in the event that a fire sparked involving the fuel.
