Man Arms Himself Against Deputies with Glass Bottle

According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, on July 10, at about 9:45pm, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the Eel River bar, with a male subject possibly stripping parts from the vehicle.

Deputies made access to the river bar and observed a second vehicle nearby with a female subject inside. Deputies contacted both subjects and upon further investigation learned that the suspicious vehicle had been reported stolen out of Fortuna. As deputies returned to the subjects to inquire about the stolen vehicle, the male subject armed himself with a glass bottle. The two subjects then fled on foot from deputies into a heavily wooded area. Deputies were unable to locate the subjects.

During a search of the stolen vehicle, deputies located four loaded firearms, two of which were reported stolen from out of the area, in addition to prescription medication, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and over 400 rounds of ammunition.

This case is under investigation.
