According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, at around 11:00 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 18-year-old Dylan Cervantes of Crescent City was traveling northbound on Lower Lake Road, north of Mud Hen Village Road, in a 2003 Ford.
The California Highway Patrol press release went on to say, an unoccupied John Deere loader was partially blocking the northbound lane and that “for unknown reasons” Mr. Cervantes “failed to observe or avoid” the John Deere loader causing his vehicle to collide with the bucket head-on.
According to the CHP, Cervantes suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash is still under investigation.
