Early Thursday morning, Fort Dick Fire Department responded to a reported fire off of Hwy 101 south of Wonderstump Rd. Fort Dick Fire Department Chief arrived at the scene and reported two abandoned motor homes on fire w/ spread to the wildland.
Two engines & two water tenders from Fort Dick Fire Department responded as well as two engines from CalFire and a crew from PBSP. The fire was knocked down within about twenty minutes and crews spent two additional hours putting out hot spots and mopping up the spread to the nearby vegetation.
This fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation. Anybody with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.
